Re: Ice Attaaacccckkkkkkkk
Final figure comes out to $110.. I was quoted $600 + $10(reduced) shipping since they didn't have it at the show..The transaction get's a bit fuzzy after that, I'm not really sure about the circumstances they seem a bit odd ..I won't name vendors ,since they may be telling the truth and that wouldn't right. Sooo Tracks USA was next closest, they were $690+ $30 to ship ,they were on top of it and it's on the way..
Soooo after some quick counsel with Brian ,there's no O-rings or seals I need to pick up for this swap correct?? BUT is there any I might want to have on hand in case kharma takes a swipe at me?? I have a rotor puller coming so that's covered...

I have a pre-studded track on my sled and love it. I thought it was the Ice Ripper, but not sure. I have over 8000 miles on it and still looks like new.
IMO only way to go.

oil fill amount XR
I'm on the reassembly ,putting the chaincase back together How much oil? I know the book I have says 250ml,but I've read that there's a bulletin advising to double(500ml) the fill amount..I caught all the drained oil and haven't measure it yet but it doesn't appear to be 500ml.. Any opinions on this??
P.S. gettting that chaincase cover off was the worst part of the whole deal, could they put more crap in the way

Technically until it starts to come out the check plug when on level ground. I still get Doo chaincase oil and just end up putting most of the little jug in.

Just measured it and it had 350ml+ in it from the dealers 300 mi. service,,looks like they split the difference to 500ml.. I don't think you can use the check plug on the '09-'10 XR's-the '11-'12's have a higher check plug location. I'm sure there's a bulletin to put 500ml (double) of oil in it to improve heat transfer because of the popping out of gear problem. I know some were cutting back to 350ml, there was some overflow out of the vent on rare occasions..Looks like that's what was done in my case, I've never had any issues so guess I'll put that amount back in.. Got the Doo synthetic lube.dlaine wrote:Technically until it starts to come out the check plug when on level ground. I still get Doo chaincase oil and just end up putting most of the little jug in.

Yes, if you double the amount like the bulletin states you will get chain case oil coming out to the vent tube. I always put 350ml in it. Worked just fine on mine. If yours worked well with the 350ml and didn't pop out of gear, I would go with what worked.Sngsht wrote:Just measured it and it had 350ml+ in it from the dealers 300 mi. service,,looks like they split the difference to 500ml..
