Depressing... isn't it?
Since it's 50 degrees and RAINING here in Wisconsin, I thought I'd sit down and plan a snowmobile in the U.P. for a couple weeks out. Give me something to look forward to. So I pulled up the web cams on JohnDee. OMG!!! Could it be more depressing??!! Even all the stand by's had minimal snow at best. South Range is the only one that had a decent amount of snow, and it looked like SLUSH! What's going on this year!!??

Yeah, pretty bad here so far. We've had grass for the last week. Its just not getting cold up here.
Re: Depressing... isn't it?
I'm not sure which is worse!!? Raining and 50 degrees right before Xmas.. or waking up to snow. 1/16 of an inch!!!! Come on!!! Rain is bad enough, but teasing us with a dusting (if you can call it that)!!!! Toe actually got up this morning and said : "You know... it's ride-able." Sadly, he meant it. I worked too hard on this lawn to have it "aerated" by a studded track and a 230 pound man desperate to ride. Bring on the REAL stuff! PLEASE!!!!!

So... it got cold here. Finally. All we needed was the snow. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It's 55 frickin degrees here today! It's January for crying out loud! Drove by the local golf course and it's packed! Packed with golfers wearing shorts! I think the shorts are just rubbing salt in the wound, don't you?

Re: Depressing... isn't it?
I don't care. We're not waiting anymore. Heading to the U.P. on Wednesday. Warmed up yesterday, but supposed to get cold again today and snow on and off thru Wednesday.. Going to Kenton, they seemed to have the best base. Wish me luck.

Brook.. you don't understand. I've GOT to. This morning Toe woke up and looked out the window at the frost and the ground, and declared that it was rideable. And sadly, he meant it. I cant afford the therapy that would be involved if I don't get him on a sled soon.

Brook, I fear that you're hexing me! If I get up there and the snow sucks, I'll know YOU had something to do with it. But if you decide that we had the right idea chasing the snow (as it clearly isn't gonna chase US!!), we'll be staying in Trout Creek, MI. Just look for the White & Pink (Pink Ribbon) sled. You cant miss us.

Trout Creek? Tell Bill to drive to Chatham instead. I seem to always run into you two in the U.P. so I will say it now: See you and Bill in da UP!Powder Princess wrote:Brook, I fear that you're hexing me! Yeah, we haven't ridden in the "mid-section" in a while. Kenton, Bruce Crossing, Twin Lakes, etc. But we plan on heading all directions, depending on the snow, obviously. The Forest roads are always a nice diversion. I take it you're gonna be in Chatham this week?

We are supposed to get snow in the lower starting this Thursday, but everyone and there brother and sister will be out riding. Got a friend that lives near Chatham area, says great snow up there right now all the way to Munising.

Re: Depressing... isn't it?
We sort of "Munisinged" our selves out last year. I love the area. Ishpeming too. But so does everyone else. Sometimes it gets pretty bad. Especially when you get in town (Munising). Nothing like 3 foot moguls to snap your back (literally). We're gonna be in the Eagle River area February 15-18 for the Pink Ribbon Ride. So we may go over near the Munising area between this trip and that one. We found a great little place to stay over there that's really nice and really cost effective. Timber Ridge Resort. Great people. I'll keep an eye on the thread when we're up there (if I can figure out how to do that on my phone) We have Nextel, so I dont have phone service up there. But the internet works. Let me know where you end up.
