The Search for Pow
After too much waiting for deep snow here here in Mi, 3 of us decided to make an impromptu trip to the Snowies in Wy. We are not expecting epic conditions but hopefully 3-4 feet of semi set up snow. Im going to try and share some pics over the next few days so wish us luck! Leaving now and driving all night so we should be there tomorrow afternoon.

Have a good time and I can't wait to see the pictures!!
My trip 'up north' this weekend got canned at the last minute (dang it!) but hopefully I will be heading out to Idaho at the end of the month!

Well we made it to Ten Mile in around 24hr driving straight thru. We could have made better time but we had 40+Mph winds all the way thru Nebraska then white out conditions in Wy. Tacked on a couple hours in Laramie getting Wy stickers, food, sled fuel and a stop in Wally World.
We were a little shocked to find only 4-6 inches of snow at the Inn and very cold temps, around -18 when we arrived. Cabins are basic but very nice and the owners are also very friendly. While checking in we ran into some guys from Iowa in the bar area that heard that it was our first time to the Snowies and offered to lead us to some good snow. With what we saw at the Inn I was a little skeptical of what someones opinion of good snow meant. lol
So this morning we followed the guys from Iowa out, we rode the trail NE around 15 miles to the base of a large hill. Their group started hill climbing so we decided to split off and head for the trees. We were pleasantly surprised to find around 4' of nice fluffy snow. The open areas have good snow but its wind swept in some areas so the better play areas are definitly in the trees, just the way I like.

Nice!!!!
I remember the first time I went out west we were only 20 miles from Cooke City and there was NO snow on the ground. I was getting worried. Then we started to climb. By the time we got there the banks on the sides of the roads were 7 feet high! It was an eye-opening experience for a flat-lander!!!

What's the update? How is the snow?
We are supposed to leave for Stanley ID a week from Friday but they don't have really good snow so we may be looking for an alternative...

There is a snow warning for Togwotee now for 2-3 feet of new snow over the next couple days. Maybe you should change your reservation.
